Petrolo Galatrona 2019 is a remarkable representation of the Tuscan terroir, crafted from 100% Merlot grapes. This wine hails from the Petrolo estate, located in the idyllic Val d'Arno di Sopra region, known for its unique microclimate that contributes to the expression of the grape. The vineyard, characterised by its clay-limestone soil, allows for optimal drainage and a deep root system, encouraging the vine to draw complexity from the earth.
In terms of technical details, Petrolo Galatrona 2019 boasts an alcohol content of approximately 14.5%. It underwent fermentation in stainless steel tanks followed by ageing in French oak barrels for 18 months, resulting in a wine with both depth and elegance.
Upon tasting, one finds an intense bouquet of dark berries, such as blackcurrant and blackberry, complemented by nuances of spice and a subtle vegetal note. The palate is full-bodied, showcasing a balance between its rich fruit structure and fine-grained tannins, leading to a long, lingering finish.
