Vega Sicilia Unico 1990 is an esteemed red wine hailing from the iconic Vega Sicilia estate in the Ribera del Duero region of Spain. Known for its exceptional quality and complexity, this vintage is crafted primarily from Tempranillo, complemented by a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon. The unique terroir of Vega Sicilia, characterised by its clay and chalk soils, contributes to the wine's depth and elegance.
Technically, this vintage is remarkable, exhibiting meticulous attention to detail in both viticulture and vinification. The wine undergoes a lengthy aging process in both French and American oak barrels, allowing it to develop a nuanced profile.
Tasting notes reveal a deep garnet colour, with a captivating bouquet of dark fruit, cedar, tobacco, and earthiness. The palate is rich and full-bodied, displaying layers of black cherry, plum, and sweet spice, perfectly integrated with velvety tannins and a lengthy finish.
